You are looking at here a really good looking and well spec’d Harley Davidson 1340cc Evo Custom.

We don’t usually venture down the Harley route due to their unpredictable reliability and the fact they are so mainstream, usually every other bike is a ‘Harley Davidson’ but this one had a bit about it and actually stood out a little.

The Evolution engine (popularly known as Evo and sometimes as Blockhead) is an air-cooled, 45-degree, V-twin engine manufactured from 1984 by Harley-Davidson and was used for the majority of their motorcycles. The Evolution Big Twin saw a fifteen-year run in Harley-Davidson’s Dyna, Softail, FXR, and Touring frames and while the main case was only slightly modified from the previous Shovelhead engine, the top end was significantly improved.

This one in particular was imported into the UK in June 2011 and although it was originally on a metric speedo it was converted back to imperial and the actual mileage is 14,129.

Lets talk about the specification/customisation… The bike has had a lot of money spent on it during its time and has been fitted with the following:

Custom rear fender, wrap around front fender, solo seat, ground pounder custom chrome exhausts, S&S carb + air filter, aftermarket ignition, billet brake calipers (with custom brackets), custom headlight/indicators, different wheels (still Harley but not the stock ones), custom panniers and by the looks of it a Fat Boy front end.

The bike is also fitted with white wall tyres and these certainly bring it all together!

Since we have had the bike we have had the carburettor off and cleaned/rebuilt as it wasn’t running quite right when we first got a hold of it. Now the bike runs superb and it has that deep V twin lope the majority of people aspire to have on a custom cruiser (especially a Harley!).

All in all a lovely bike and something that will certainly turn heads wherever you ride. It probably isn’t something you would ride as your daily but I suspect it will have a good go at bringing in a trophy or two at your local shows!
